Mighty Minds 2009

We went to the Spring yesterday for the Mighty Minds competition with Claire, Eu Fern and Amy. I thought there were only going to be a few schools participatings. Mana tahu.... There were 56 teams altogether. So we had the first challenge, answering roughly 20 questions (we're bad at calculating fast). Then, we got in to the second challenge.

An arched suspension bridge.

That's what they expected us to build with straws and satay sticks plus the minor materials. Al instructed us what to do. Chooey helped draw the design plan while Al and I began constructing. The darn bridge refused to stay put after the framework was done. The people at the sidelines kept on saying it was never going to stand. So, to ease our minds, we sang along to the songs that were playing during the competition.

It finally stood being able to support the two cute toy cars. For a brief moment.

Then it collapsed. We cried deep in our hearts. And went Oh No!

No chance already.

But as the judging was held, they judges actually held up ours and it stood! I was so happy they even considered looking at it. The shocker was, we were in the top 5! I'll never forget that moment.

We had to do a 60 second presentation after that. Al began it, me in the middle and Chooey ended it. As you can see, the bridge wasn't that stabile. :-) Haha.. Yeap, we know. After the F4F5 finished their models and the top 5 were selected, it was result time.

Butterflies in everyone's stomach. Third goes to SMK Jalan Arang, if I'm not mistaken. As though all hope was gone, we were like ,"Nah, it's over" but Guprit kept cheering on. When the announced we were second, Chooey and I were temporarily shocked while Al and Lip Yi were already screaming. My mum said we were so loud. It's a good thing. We have each other's back.

Second for a collapsed bridge. Pretty amazing.

I think this has been one of the best days of my life, remembering Al, Chooey and I as a team, Lip Yi who was reprimanded for getting over excited with photos, Guprit's funny antics and everyone's support, getting us through this.

Overjoyed!

I am so glad I finished the logo entry. Finally, a little bit free. Oh yes before I get, food and funfair day is coming up soon, which is on Saturday.
Remember to visit the 3A1 stall at SMK St Teresa!
Today, my mother, sister and I went for a dinner at Bella Italia for a celebration. Although it seemed rather empty, ok, we were the only ones there, the food was simply delicious. I mean awesomeness flowed out of every single plate served. We had the sphagetti carbonara, mushroom soup, pizza, grilled salmon, caesar salad and last but not least, the mouth-watering tiramisu.
Everything tasted so good that I'll definitely suggest it to my dad the next time we're planning on western food. Yes, and so I am overjoyed about that matter! It just left me with butterflies and stars around my head.

A Tragic Loss

I found out Michael Jackson died during Math class yesterday. Maybe it was a rumour, I thought. But then the radio started playing all his songs in tribute to him after I got home.

This wasn't a dream after all. I was shocked and wondering, "How could the King of Pop be dead?" Truth be told, I really think Michael Jackson was one of the most iconic and influential in the music business. His eccentric dressing which no one can beat, his songs and cheoreography changed the perspective of music. Billy Jean and Scream are among my favourites. He broke down the racial barrier between the whites and blacks. Michael Jackson touched generations with his music and electrifying performances.

It's just hard to believe he's gone.

I never expected him to pass away all of a sudden although he was accused of child molestation and constantly doing plastic surgery. He may be weird, but there's no denying he is the best.
His death is an awful loss not only to the music industry, but to the world, people everywhere. You will always be remembered, RIP Michael Jackson.

Long long ago

I haven't posted up anything in a month. Now, blogging only comes once in a blue moon. I feel rather lazy.

Exams are finally over which is such a relief, not only school exams, but other extra exams too. So, I think I'm sort of free for now. That'll probably last for another three days as piano exam is drawing closer. Finger exercises and scales. The horror.
Today we celebrated Teacher's Day at school. It was pretty entertaining. There were some good performances and ... bad performances. An amazing duo act by Cassandra and Guprit, some tough vocals on Mariah Carey's "Hero" and Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me", rock bands(do you call them rock bands?), dancing, taekwondo + aerobics (I forgot the nama gabungan) and obviously, the school band. :)
The speeches were kept shorter this year and the emcees were hilarious. That's what made this year's Teacher's Day pretty awesome although sambutan kurang hebat! But at least the crowd is enthutiastic in their own ways, especially screaming. Hmmm... A way to express oneself.

Boys Over Flowers

I know almost everyone has finished watching Boys Over Flowers except me. (sobs)

In case you don't know what Boys Over Flowers is, it's actually the Korean adaptation of the manga "Hana Yori Dango".

I chose the more smiley photo of them. F4 + Geum Jandi cause I didn't really like the other one which is this.

They all look so solemn and dull here.

I really hoped that Jandi and Jihoo ends up together but it's not going to happen as I read spoilers. But the cool part is, Yijung and Gaeul do. By the way, Junpyo has immense stupidity.

For once

For once, I think it's ok to be frustrated over a stupid pot of plant. A really stupid pot of plant.

Still life makes me want to strangle someone.
So when I'm observing and drawing still life, stay five feet away from me.

Painting, ten feet away from me.

Cross-stitching, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!

Oh yeah, Al, don't blacken my table.

Exams are over!

It's such a relief that exams are over.

But then, the test paper always has to come back...
And the results are quite bad especially Geography. So, right now I'm here wondering what will happen to Sejarah, KH, English and BM. To be honest, this exam was very unpleasant. I fell sick on the day we were suppose to sit for the KH paper. When I woke up that morning, I had this nauseous feeling. I didn't bother and sat down for breakfast but as soon as I finished, I started throwing up. Felt really dizzy and disorientated.
Hoping it will go away, I stepped into the car and ended up vomitting again. My mum told me I shouldn't go to school but I told her I had to as I already studied. I went to school late after that to see the doctor. Wasn't feeling any better. The doctor prescribed me some antibiotics and anti-vomitting but he didn't tell me what exactly caused the condition.
When I came back from exam, I kept wondering what it was. Maybe it was the rota virus or the irritable bowel syndrome. Till today, I'm still having bad stomachaches in the morning.
