Red Cliff

I watched Red Cliff with my grandfather yesterday. It was a totally awesome movie with its astounding battlefield scenes and visual effects. It is quite a compelling story starring many from the Romance of the Three Kingdom series for example Zhuge Liang, Cao Cao and Liu Bei.

The following is a brief description of the movie:

Red Cliff (Chinese: 赤壁; pinyin: Chìbì), also known as The Battle of Red Cliff, is a Chinese epic film based on the Battle of The Red Cliffs and events during the end of the Han Dynasty and immediately prior to the period of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms in ancient. The film is directed by John Woo and stars Tony Leung Chiu-Wai as Viceroy Zhou Yu, Takeshi Kaneshiro as Zhuge Liang, Zhang Fengyi as Cao Cao, Chang Chen as Sun Quan , Hu Jun as Zhao Yun, Lin Chi-ling as Xia Qiao, You Yong as Liu Bei and Zhao Wei as Sun Shangxiang.

My favourite character in the book and the movie is Zhuge Liang for always being the smart and wise guy.

Happy Holidays!

Raya is approaching and I bet everyone's pretty excited about it. Town is pretty busy especially Carpenter Street. Everyone's out shopping for new stuff. My dad is probably going to go on a open house frenzy again this year. We used to visit 16 to 23 houses a day. 16 to 23. It's not a joke. My dad's friends love to have him over at their house so in the end, we get heavily bloated. Imagine the amount of can drink intakes, cookies, cakes, curry, rendang and pulut stuffed in your mouth. My parents even time themselves how many minutes they can spend at each house just to make in time to everyone. My dad believes in pleasing everybody. Typical dad.

Seriously, it is crazy to eat non-stop. My father's friends absolutely love him to indulge in their homemade delicacies. Mouth-watering first, agony later. I remembered I was too greedy and ended up throwing up the whole night. Let's forget the not so happy part of Raya but refer to the much happier times. The best part about Hari Raya is you get food and joy of the festivities at the same time. Right.... Just kidding.

Hopefull, I'll be able to visit Mierah's and Brina's house with a couple of friends. Lastly, I liked to wish everybody, "Happy Holidays & Hope you enjoy studying!" and especially for the Malays,

"Selamat Hari Raya!
Maaf zahir dan batin"

Newspaper Tower

Yesterday, as we stepped into the lab, nobody would have expected this; a competition to build the most stabile and tallest block using only, two pieces of newspaper. Everyone was cracking their heads to figure a way how to make it work with just two pieces of newspaper within 15 minutes. Our group played with the newspaper, twisting it that way and this way. Then, bingo! Clarissa and Jasmine, the brilliant masterminds came up with a plan. They bulit a cone with the base, cut a hole at the top and twisted the newpaper forming sort of a drill. 10 seconds left. Amy rushes to cellotape the block with Amirah holding the base. Time was up!

Amy places onto the table top with the other groups. Two groups pulled out, not being able to make it on time. 5 building stood tall on teacher's top, slightly unbalanced. Judging moment. Before teacher could reach out to Tatianna's Twin Towers, it has already fallen. Teacher decides to on the fan. Everybody were staring at the four left standing. Eleena and Christine's flag began wavering, slightly drooping with each second. It stood stabile but not as tall as the rest. Michelle Goh's was slightly shaky, tilting to one side too. Sharon's, the mighty tower which hovered over the rest was also beginning to shake and finally, dropped. Two remained, ours' and Al's, who will last longer?

30 seconds passed, 5 minutes passed but still both towers showed no signs of movement. Teacher decides a tie-breaker. First, the poking with the finger. Showing no significant movement, teacher invites two volunteers to blow the towers, Esterene and Debra. The towers were still showing no movement. Everyone was impatient, waiting for one to drop. Anxiety took over. Finally, teacher announced it as a tie! Everybody put great effort and what a challenge!

Our tower's height is about 78 cm.

And this is it!

Interesting Recollections

This was taken three years ago. Not meant for implying humiliation nor embarassment. But I'm so proud of it.

Three years ago, SK St. Teresa's choral speaking joined the district, regionals and state choral speaking competition. Our year was absolutely awesome combining the Year 4 and 5's which we won champions for both the district and regionals. Sadly, we lost to Miri in the state competition held in Bintulu. I never forgotten how devastated we were that day. We preformed our really best but we were still a little bit too fast according to the judges. Throughout the whole thing, we gained many experiences and memorable moments including this.

Prize-giving Day 2005

(In case you've noticed, Evelyn and I were grinning our heads off at the back)

So that was the past, and now the present.

I present to you Michelle Ting massacring Ronan Keating's song.

And why so, you may ask. As we all gathered in the hall for assembly, I sat down with Martha, Sharon and Esterene. Martha was curiously fooling around with a piece of paper and scissors. Then, I noticed Marthat was writing something secretly on the paper. Out of curiosity, I asked her what it was and she just passed me the piece of paper, half of it cut by her razor sharp scissors.

The smile on your face, Let's me know that you need me, There's a truth in your eyes, Saying you'll never leave me, The touch of your hand says you'll catch me whenever I fall, You say it best, When you say nothing at all

The chorus was enough to make Martha sob uncontrollably as she said I "bunuh"ed the song. Her face was enough to prove I answered my tag truthfully and without doubt, filled with honesty. Sharon laughed at me too even though she sang along with me. Martha's face made me feel regretful for ever singing that song. I thought I touched her heart, but I saw more of resentment and unhappiness in her eyes to realize I was ruining it without doubt. Poor Martha, she had to bear with my singing for half an hour. With Sharon by her side, I think it was a lesser pain to the ears (crossed fingers).

Now I know, I have the power to kill any song with just uttering a single word. I shan't use it for unruly purposes or shall I? Who knows?

Inebriated Rambling

The dusty road down the teachers' carpark, two people approached each other and began rambling about bags. They were Michelle and Evelyn. Evelyn looking rather crimson under the black skies and Michelle, just haggard. Sabrina claimed that she and Evelyn had carried three bags each down the stairs. But Michelle suggested that Evelyn was inebriated from a heavy booze.

Suddenly, the sky seemed so much darker, appearing malicious and sinister. The colour of Evelyn's face didn't fade. She was walking from side to side in an odd way. Stupidly, Michelle decided to join in, ignoring the fact there were other people staring in the churchground. They both started talking madly about bizzare topics which absolutely had nothing to do with them. Criticizing, ranting and simply belligerent. The booze was not wearing off fast enough.

Michelle's eyes started to droop heavily, reflexively causing her to sleepwalk. Evelyn had to go as she saw her car arrived. Michelle left alone, still not very much aware of her surroundings runs into Alicia. Together, they walk towards a Mitsubishi Pajero near the benches.

The black Pajero stands massively tall next to a row of pitiful Kancils. The deafening rumble of the 4WD was even hard to ignore within one mile's distance. Michelle's mother looking rather pleased for Michelle being early as she had promised earlier that day. Michelle grinned mischievously as she thought about her little sister standing in front of Tupperware, an ideal contemplatation. Throughout the drive, Alicia and Michelle discusses their civic project involving charity work. Lesson learned through the conversation, a meeting with only two people makes a faster, better decision.

The Davids'

My mum has loved David Archuleta ever since the first day he stepped into the American Idol audition room. Hoping he'll win, she cheers for him every week. Then the finale came along, all her dreams were crushed within one second; Ryan Seacrest announcing David Cook won. Till today, she discriminates Cook and the sentence "David C. cooked David A".

David Cook (Champion of AI)

Runner-up

David Archuleta has a good voice which is suitable for ballads unlike David Cook, who is this translucent, hanging voice which is rather current. Although my mum wanted to David A. to win, Al and I were secretly wishing that David Cook would be the champion. Our mothers loved the sweet, little talented boy. He didn't win sadly. Still David A. is rather awesome.

Recently, he came up with a new album, "Dacid Archuleta" with its hit single, "Crush". "Crush" was a rather immature twist for the low vocals and lack of music sense. Even my family laughed out loud including my mum when his song was playing. Singing something like "Imagine" was amazing but "Crush" was just ... listen to it yourself then tune in to "Imagine".

Can't Wait for Season 8 of American Idol!

Lots of things messed up together

So Basically I Did This Today,

I got out of bed, brushed my teeth and changed. Boiled water and heat the bread. Grabbed my flute and rushed out (eventhough it was only 7.00, thanks to my dad). Stayed with my dad at the coffee shop while he talked with his friends*they're really nice*. But it was so boring, I took my dad's keys and attempted to barge into the shop. People were staring at me like I was a lunatic. What could I do? I was BORED. In the end, I gave up unlocking that stupid grill. Then only at 7.50, he sent me for band.

Band Practice

Ordered to jog or rather I called it, breeze walking. Practised marching. Then, we went back to band room played some scores and enjoyed the music, as if. The last piece was absolutely torturous.

Ballet

Shirley and I did some character and free movements. After lesson, we were talking about how perfect Edward was and how impossible was it to come true (we were being so silly XD). The conclusion was the story became a bestseller as everyone loves a fairytale-like story and indulgent in their thoughts. To me, it's just a bunch of mental delusions.

We shifted on to oldies as Chelsea brought the idea of Dancing Queen.

ABBA

The Carpenters "Why do Bird suddenly appear...., everytime you are near..."

The Eagles "Welcome to the Hotel California..."

It was so weird as all these melodies went rolling around my head. Must be under the influence of my mother... But oldies are awesome especially Earth, Wind and Fire's "September". But good things must come to an end, as I sailed home with my mum and little sister.

Home

Unfortunately, this was the part I hated most.

I WAS FORCED AGAINST MY WILL TO HELP MY SISTER FINISHED HER PROJECT GRUDGINGLY!

Someday, she'll remember that I have helped her and she has to repay me back. Muahahahaha.......

She shall remember or I will make her remember while blood still runs through my veins. Maybe I'm a bit too much, but you should know my sister doesn't help people without a condition. My little sister used to chase Evelyn and Eu Fern, asked them, they'll tell all you need to know about my daring and annoying sister.

Ending of Eragon

Brisingr meaning fire is the last book in the Inheritance Trilogy (Eragon and Eldest). I have been waiting for so long since three years ago after Christopher Paolini wrote the second book. And it's actually going to be released on the 20th of September. Really excited to see what a wimp Eragon has become *sighs* based on the second book.

But still really excited to know what happens between Murtagh and Eragon after all, they are blood brothers. They are certain spoilers online though but I am just going to save the best for last. Annoyed that Christopher Paolini actually spilled contents of Brisingr online, I'll just ignore it. Might be going to MPH or Popular soon to get a copy and maybe the Twilight series.

Hardcover over paperback?

DEFINITELY HARDCOVER

Rush Hour

I am definitely not talking about "Rush Hour" the movie but more of my home rush hour. My mum's busy preparing for a talk and she regrets it so much, I see her moaning in front of the laptop. Just one thing, my mum absolutely dislikes computers or anything that has to do with technology. Sighing about her Powerpoint, I decided to lend my helping hand but instead...
"WHERE YOU PUT THE WORD DOCUMENT???"
It's not exactly my fault. The night before, I was halfway asleep and I can't even remember what was I doing. My mum asked me to cut and paste those silly diagrams into the slide presentation. Silly, dumb diagrams. She didn't even tell me I had to separate the diagrams.
In the end, she cut out all the diagrams and paste them onto a white piece of paper. Then, sent it for photostating. It could have been that simple. Gosh, and all that trouble. Apparently, she's doing this for charity. I hate to see stressed out people especially my mum, she definitely can blow you away.
If you have read Sabrina's blog, probably she has mentioned the next year's Prefect Council for afternoon session.
Rebecca is officially our new Head Prefect.

Random Post

Finished reading Twilight. Currently, the craze of 2A1 and 2A2 and maybe 2A3.
It's not bad actually. You can try reading it yourself.

Listening to Maksim Mrvica's album. The Piano Player and New World Concerto.

Quite a spin on Handel's Sarabande and Hadyns's Piano Concerto in C Major. Perhaps his most popular number is the "Flight of The Bumblebee". But my favourites are Claudine, Cubana Cubana, Croatian Rhapsody and Paganini.

"The finest pianist since Liszt " The Tokyo Times

And that's why I love Maksim.

The real reason I'm writing this post is

I am really bored.....

And I refuse to study *exams in four weeks (the Horror)*

Finishing kerja kursus is another thing *pass up by Thursday*

Number 8

I got back my piano results and I'm really depressed. What more can be said? I am an absolute failure. 2008 is definitely not a good year no matter how much we, Chinese people saying 8 brings good "chi", many fortunes and lots of joy. I don't sense a single good happening. Political crisis all around the world including Malaysia, natural disasters and recent conflict between China and Tibet before the Beijing Olmpics.

People tearing down pictures of Tan Sri Toh Tsu Kun, blaming him for fighting the rights of the Chinese citizens. Malaysians are one, remember? Gerakan demanding separation from Barisan Nasional. It seems more like a sad year to me...

The number 8 was suppose to be everflowing, visualizing prosperity, happiness and longevity....

Forensic Heroes II

Finally, I finished watching Forensic Heroes after 41 episodes but it was worth while. The plot was quite interesting actually and seriously addictive. I was glued to the TV set the whole three weeks.

Watched the first three discs throughout our mid-term exams (hehe...) and felt really guilty about it. I was undeniably glad when we got out test papers back as I was expecting to do badly this term. Aren't I exceptionally brilliant?
