Merry Christmas!

Wishing everybody a very Merry Christmas and coming soon, Happy New Year!
Soon, after that it'll be Chinese New Year and then..... Let's don't get too far.
Chistmas is a time of giving and spending time with the ones you love and will always treasure. And of course, it is to celebrate when Jesus Christ was born as God kept his promise.
And so it may be.
So be thankful and sastified with whatever comes in hand.

Johnnie Walker

Who is Johnnie Walker?

An Englishman perhaps?

He's Scottish. Originally known as Walker's Kilmarnock Whisky, the Johnnie Walker brand is a legacy left by John ‘Johnnie’ Walker after he started to sell whisky in his grocer’s shop in Ayrshire, Scotland.

The brand became popular, but after Walker's death in 1857, it was his son Alexander Walker and grandson Alexander Walker II who were largely responsible for establishing the scotch as a popular brand. In the 1860's, it was illegal to sell blended (malt and grain mixed together) whisky. During that time John Walker sold a number of whiskys — notably his own Walker’s Kilmarnock. In 1865 John’s son Alexander produced their first blend, Walker’s Old Highland.
Alexander Walker first introduced the iconic square bottle in 1870.

With it's 43% alcohol, it's enough to knock you out. There's the Red Label, Black Label and Gold Label, Green Label. Labelled according to their year. But if you don't want your liver burning anytime soon, don't drink!

And thanks to Johnnie Walker, the Striding Man, as always.

Back

I am back from a two week holiday at my grandparent's house in Segamat. Very tiresome indeed. And through this experience, I have made an oath never to take AirAsia again eventhough I know I'll probably end up in one unless MAS has offered a lower, better price. AirAsia as a budget airline enables you to walk, wait... run on the runway (not the one models strut on) and climb up the stairs into the plane. The best part (sarcasm intended) was they decided to reschedule out flight 6 hours earlier. Annoyance sets in as we were only notifyed the night before and I haven't finished packing. Had to wake up at 6.00 as the trip from Segamat to Senai International Airpot is approximately two and a half hours.

That's merely the description to and fro. In my grandparents' house, there's no Internet, no PS2, the television not monopolised by me and perhaps absolutely nothing to do except reading newspapers and storybooks or eating. I managed to read Brisingr by Christopher Paolini, the Complete Horowitz Horror by Anthony Horowitz, Thanks for the Memories by Cecelia Ahern, The Diamond of Drury Lane by Julia Golding. I loved Cat Royal! Then, my sister made the incidental discovery of a cheap monopoly board in the bookstore. Bought it, played it, went bankrupt. End of story. The richest person was my cousin.

Visited Malacca twice. My aunties, my mother and my little sister went shopping. We also went to the Butterfly Farm which was more of a campur aduk farm with reptilians and birds not forgetting to mention the koi fish. The butterfly section was rather costly. If you accidentally killed or stepped on the butterfly, you have to pay a fine of RM 200. It does not matter whether it was on the floor and you were too busy looking up at the other butterflies. And yes, before I forget, met Kher Ching at Pahlawan outside a Body Glove outlet. I guessed probably everyone was staring at us after describing our shock and saying the "Oh my Gods". Presumably, the expressions made were to awkward to be described merely within words.
Here are some of the pretty butterflies I managed to capture. I was too lazy to upload all of them.

Funny, butterflies enjoy feasting on pineapples

I particularly liked this one.

My grandmother's cooking is fantastic. And I learned to made kaya. It's not as easy you think it is. You have to stir it to smoothen out to texture and that needs patience, hard work and determination. Needless to say, I make a not-so-smooth textured kaya with impatience in hand. Moving on, my grandmother also roasted her special duck, mouth-watering fried chicken, popiah, yam stuffing, aubergine stir-fried with dried prawns and so much more.

During this period, my mother went mee curry crazy. So, my pitiful aunty had to bring her out to eat almost everyday. Plus me. It's a food frenzy over there. I go out for breakfast with my grandpa, take a tea break at the famous reknown Nanyang kopitiam and eat supper almost every day. It probably explains the weight gained.
So it must end here or I'll get to far off the line.

Holkidays

Holidays usually mean more time to go online and at least publish post three times in a week but so far I am stuck at the shop. And my week's income went to buying Brisingr and yes, I finally bought it. It was hard to convince my parents that the book was actually interesting and worth buying. Haven't started reading it yet though.

I have not compelled myself to boredom just yet. The list of things I felt needed to be put on the entertainment accomplishment list.

a) Watched all of the Indiana Jones movies and absolutely loved it.

b) Read the first book in the Artemis Fowl series. Actually it's quite a good read and who thought fairies could be so violent. I particularly liked the line at the back of the book saying, "Stay back, human. You don't know what you're dealing with". Might continue. Can't believe what I have missed out for so many years.

c) Painting flowers with watercolour. Brings out the worse in me especially the part where my hand goes clumsy and starts blotching the flowers. Crimson red or cerulean blue.

d) Running back and forth from Benzamine to E-mal. Great exercise!

Sadly, those were the things I have only done within the two weeks holiday. I was planning to learn html but I haven't gotten the IGSCE book yet. And thank goodness, I've my little sister to accompany and make me laugh my guts out throught this very boring two months!

Headache

My mother thinks she gets the headaches because of my horrible piano playing. But! I've found the real factor behind those major headaches and it's not exactly that.

My piano teacher asked me one day did my mother enjoy my music. Obviously, no. She asked why. So, I told her that my mother always complained and still complains about the headache that approaches after that. So this is my teacher's logic explanation, sound can be absorbed, right? (as we learn in Science)

My parents placed the piano in front of a wall which actually reflects the sound back into the room with tiled floors and walls without any carpets. The sound vibration hits the wall and reflects back to the living room, amplifying the music by at least three times.

Ways to solve this problem:

Option 1: Put a cloth behind the piano. Not approved *dibantah* by my mother as she believes
lizards will do its business behind there and dirty the place sadly. It was a pretty good
option though.

Option 2: Shift the piano. Indecisive about this option. We don't know where to move it cause
once you decide, there's no turning back! The heaviness doesn't help either.
My sister suggested the other end of the living room but it would still be the same and
the office won't work too. The other room is too small to fit in the piano. So, I
suggested the toilet.... XD Rather insane but apparently it has better acoustics. I mean
why not, since its huge and produces a "not so loud" sound that doesn't bring pain to
my mother's ears.

Piano + Toilet: Great music

End of School

I am slightly happy but also sad. I'll miss Sharon and Martha (geng apek), sitting next to Eu Fern, getting the green book, the water cooler, Amirah's hilarious comments, Sabrina's relevations on Chinese History and so much more. I can't believe it's end of the school session and before you know it, you're seeing little greenish purple (depends on your eye) fluoroscent globules in front of you from the camera.

Band Camp 2008

I didn' manage to take any pictures *sobs* but the memories are definitely there. I was in Strawberry.

Strawberry Sundae! was our group name

Pink is not my exactly my favourite colour but strawberry rocks! First, we had an ice-breaking session which was entertaining with the charades. We learned a few new pieces during band practice e.g. Tuxedo Junction (awesome) and three fanfares.

Then, it was time for Night Factor. Although being tied up, taped on the mouth and blindfolded wasn't exactly the most exciting thing in the world, it was fun. The screaming, banging of the tables and stepping own my foot wasn't scary nor entertaining.
I am too lazy to describe it in detail about the next two days so I am going to summarize it. Marching practice. Band practice. More band practice. Station Games. Eat. Sleep. Bandana fashionshow and group cheer. Band Practice again. Finally, the performance attended by parents with a slideshow from the committee. Hope we didn't look sad this time!

Innovative

School is boring nowadays. Exams are over and we have practically nothing to do except laze around and talk. I mean the talking part is great but won't you ever get tired of talking? And on record, I slept in class today. Amazing. I never slept in class no matter how tiresome things get.

Sharon and Martha invented the "cardboard" cards to past their free time and what a success it was!

It's a sad thing I didn't get a picture of their extremely innovative card. The only mild assumption was it was hard to shuffle and proved to be a difficult task for anyone with small hands. First we played "Hantu" then "Speed". Finally, with almost 10 people joining, we played "Heart Attack!". I remember these games used to be everyones' obsession after UPSR. Sadly, secondary school doesn't actually allow you to bring "alat permainan" to school.

But the Rubik's cube is allowed. No wonder everyone's fondling over it...

I don't blame anyone. With the boredom and a tempting colourful cube, anything can go wrong.
Another innovative idea was the guy beatboxing and playing the flute to the Flight of the Bumbleee at the same time. Now, that's what I call insane. For me, playing it on the piano is bad enough and beatboxing? I must have a super brain that controls the coordination perfectly or receive rather bad reviews from anybody who heard me do it.
So I believe Kemahiran Hidup/Living Skills has everything to do with this?
Being innovative, creative and an oppurtunist is your path to being an entrepreneur as they always right in the back of the textbook.

Latest Obssesions

I have found some amazing performances or video clips or whatsoever you call it on Youtube. It has become my obsession. It's mostly classical music but with more of a modern twist.

Taro Hakase & Iwao Furusawa-Swingin' Bach
The Dynamic Duo
J.S. Bach would love it if he was still alive today

Li Yundi-Chopin Piano Concerto No.1 2nd movement
He may look stress while playing the piano but he's definitely one of a kind

Maksim Mcvirca-Cubana Cubana
Also a pianist with super fast fingers that travel along the keys without breaking a single sweat.
Unlike me, I sound like the elephant desperately attempting to chase a deer.

And I added this for fun since Maksim looked emo here.

Influenza

Don't get me wrong here. It has nothing do with the H5N1 strain.

Since everybody in your class is sick or at least the ones sitting near you are sick, the tendency to be ill is about 99.999%. Eu Fern, Alicia, Rebecca and Christine were sick in the past week as far as I remembered. Now they have recoverd, it's my turn *sobs*

Nothing can make your day much more depressing than a flu. Terrible mood swings are on its way. And medicine makes me oh-so -very drowsy...... zZZzzz....I can sleep trying to solve a crossword puzzle, resting my head on the book. Frustration with a Rubiks Cube and mathematical diagram doesn't help much either. The fact, my father closed the car door with an umbrella sticking out down there makes it worse.

Sarawak Chesire Home

Our civic project was a success!

Thanks to everyone in 2A1 who have worked so hard, the teachers for accompanying us today plus our parents for donations and the moral support they ghave given us.

Sorry, I didn't manage to take any pictures cause the camera apparently was "grounded" to stay at home. Annoyance seeps in.

Anyway, we gathered in front of the staff room at around 1.30 p.m, took the mugs and hampers not forgetting those oh-so-very-heavy fruits. Got up the bus at around 1.45 p.m and we were off to the Sarawak Chesire Home. I guaranteed everyone they would have muscles by the end of the trip after carrying those heavy gifts. Look at the bright side.

Managed to see the handicapped at work. They were all super talented. And I mean seriously. One man called Patrick wrote a very simple but amazing story with possibly no grammatical errors at all. The others could make beadwork and transform it from some mere colourful beads to a dog, a rabbit and even a Pikachu. For those who had Down's Syndrome, they could write well. We visited those who were bedridden and listened to their stories. It's pretty amazing how one can survive under such circumstances

Here comes the embarrassing but fun part. We all sang "Standing in the Eyes of the World", "I Have a Dream" and two numbers from ABBA which was "Dancing Queen" and "Mamma Mia!". I kept bumming into people. Silly me. We were accompanied by Alicia on the guitar.

After that, there was the "cabutan bertuah" session. Sister Regina took out the numbers from the bag and Faizah announced the winner. Dominic was so cute when he received the present. I hope one day he'll be able to talk like any other normal kid. He was so adorable, hugging and saying thank you to all of us. His smile is enough to brighten up anyone's day. XD

We served food (KFC) to the inmates of Chesire Home after that. I hope they enjoyed our activities. Sadly, it was time to go home. We left at around 4.00, said our farewells and bid adieu *whatever you call it*. I can't fit everything we did in one post. Moral of the day, learned to appreciate what is given and not to demand for more.

And before I forget, Eu Fern sounded like Lindsay Lohan today...

Awkward....

Sleepiness

I fell asleep walking yesterday, even jumping too. I woke up this morning, feeling like I had a serious hangover, but I don't drink and not even reaching the legal age just yet. Exhaustion has consumed me and beat me at its best so far. I think it must have caused by the terrible headache before I went for the Spelling Bee. Anyway, the Spelling Bee was so depressing. Phoebe and I were separated into different groups.

Like I said before, I'll tembak the word if I don't exactly know what it is. So, my first word was "synagogue". First impression, the big question mark above my head. Within 60 seconds, I had to figure out how to spell it. Among the 15 attempts of spelling it within a minute, none of it was correct. The team's first round was rather unlucky or as Cassandra called it, "We were being scammed". *haha*

The next word, was what would you call it? Grotesque? I mean I know the word but the man who pronounced the word was totally off. Thanks to the definition, at least I capture a brief glimpse of how it should be said and spelled correctly. The last one was not too bad, "acquisition", but I kept on hearing the sss... sound behind. Assuming it was plural, I kept on spelling with the 's' behind but I just gave up in the end, and cancelled off the 's'.

We had to go for the tie-breaker which was perhaps the nerve-racking thing ever. As the stupid Michelle, I went and sat in the front. Twiddling my fingers, knowing my name was last on the list in their hands, I was extremely comfortable where I was. Then there was the B0035 ringing through the hall, and suddenly my name was being called out. I got the first word wrong anyway, and the second word, "finesse" correct. In conclusion, we did well, almost the whole team went into the semi-finals. Hopefully, the next one wouldn't be so hard and they ought to get people who can pronounce better.

And oh yeah... it's durian season. So check out a durian stall soon or you'll have to wait another year for heavenly delicous durians.

Can you please repeat??
-Haiyah...
-I bet
-OMG!
-What on earth?!

Take note, Michelle Ting is extremely absent-minded. Please do constantly remind her of her responsibilities or she tends to forget it. Proven by the way she walks to the kitchen intending to find the sewing kit, but ends up ransacking the refrigerator, noticing halfway she was looking for a
needle.

Simply Ludicrous

One day, I decided to asks several asinine questions in school...

So why on earth would MT question mindless thoughts that will not benefit your life or whatsoever?

I know you'll be falling asleep reading this.....

But do you really want to know?

It is commonly known as the symptoms of a major depression during exams.

My very first riveting query,"If you had a chicken, what would you do with it?"

Some answers were fair enough whilst the rest were rather *ahem* different.

The naturally conventional ones were by Sharon and Martha, "I'll slaughter the chicken, pluck the feathers out and roast it," they said with a glee.

And the odd ones,

"I'll throw it into the bin"-Gabrielle
"Uh... I don't know"-Sabrina
"What the heck???"-Amirah
"I'll let it fly"- I forgot the person who said it, sorry

Plus so much more... Bad idea to ask such idotic questions

Next question, do you prefer democracy or communism?

Suprisingly, St Teresa's East Malaysians are supporting *drum rolls* communism. Out of the ten people I asked so far, 9 said communism and 1 said democracy

9:1

And Sabrina mistook my statement of hating the topic of democracy for supporting communism. To think of supporting communists and not holding up in ruling your own country is simply weird. Whateverlah, rakyat Malaysia tentukan....

Don't take it seriously, we love Malaysia. And if you're a Malaysian, you know what to do.

If you have an opinion, just post it on the cbox! And a chicken to think of?
