Newspaper Tower

Yesterday, as we stepped into the lab, nobody would have expected this; a competition to build the most stabile and tallest block using only, two pieces of newspaper. Everyone was cracking their heads to figure a way how to make it work with just two pieces of newspaper within 15 minutes. Our group played with the newspaper, twisting it that way and this way. Then, bingo! Clarissa and Jasmine, the brilliant masterminds came up with a plan. They bulit a cone with the base, cut a hole at the top and twisted the newpaper forming sort of a drill. 10 seconds left. Amy rushes to cellotape the block with Amirah holding the base. Time was up!

Amy places onto the table top with the other groups. Two groups pulled out, not being able to make it on time. 5 building stood tall on teacher's top, slightly unbalanced. Judging moment. Before teacher could reach out to Tatianna's Twin Towers, it has already fallen. Teacher decides to on the fan. Everybody were staring at the four left standing. Eleena and Christine's flag began wavering, slightly drooping with each second. It stood stabile but not as tall as the rest. Michelle Goh's was slightly shaky, tilting to one side too. Sharon's, the mighty tower which hovered over the rest was also beginning to shake and finally, dropped. Two remained, ours' and Al's, who will last longer?

30 seconds passed, 5 minutes passed but still both towers showed no signs of movement. Teacher decides a tie-breaker. First, the poking with the finger. Showing no significant movement, teacher invites two volunteers to blow the towers, Esterene and Debra. The towers were still showing no movement. Everyone was impatient, waiting for one to drop. Anxiety took over. Finally, teacher announced it as a tie! Everybody put great effort and what a challenge!

Our tower's height is about 78 cm.

And this is it!
