Influenza

Don't get me wrong here. It has nothing do with the H5N1 strain.

Since everybody in your class is sick or at least the ones sitting near you are sick, the tendency to be ill is about 99.999%. Eu Fern, Alicia, Rebecca and Christine were sick in the past week as far as I remembered. Now they have recoverd, it's my turn *sobs*

Nothing can make your day much more depressing than a flu. Terrible mood swings are on its way. And medicine makes me oh-so -very drowsy...... zZZzzz....I can sleep trying to solve a crossword puzzle, resting my head on the book. Frustration with a Rubiks Cube and mathematical diagram doesn't help much either. The fact, my father closed the car door with an umbrella sticking out down there makes it worse.

An example of how the flu virus looks like in your body

Sarawak Chesire Home

Our civic project was a success!

Thanks to everyone in 2A1 who have worked so hard, the teachers for accompanying us today plus our parents for donations and the moral support they ghave given us.

Sorry, I didn't manage to take any pictures cause the camera apparently was "grounded" to stay at home. Annoyance seeps in.

Anyway, we gathered in front of the staff room at around 1.30 p.m, took the mugs and hampers not forgetting those oh-so-very-heavy fruits. Got up the bus at around 1.45 p.m and we were off to the Sarawak Chesire Home. I guaranteed everyone they would have muscles by the end of the trip after carrying those heavy gifts. Look at the bright side.

Managed to see the handicapped at work. They were all super talented. And I mean seriously. One man called Patrick wrote a very simple but amazing story with possibly no grammatical errors at all. The others could make beadwork and transform it from some mere colourful beads to a dog, a rabbit and even a Pikachu. For those who had Down's Syndrome, they could write well. We visited those who were bedridden and listened to their stories. It's pretty amazing how one can survive under such circumstances

Here comes the embarrassing but fun part. We all sang "Standing in the Eyes of the World", "I Have a Dream" and two numbers from ABBA which was "Dancing Queen" and "Mamma Mia!". I kept bumming into people. Silly me. We were accompanied by Alicia on the guitar.

After that, there was the "cabutan bertuah" session. Sister Regina took out the numbers from the bag and Faizah announced the winner. Dominic was so cute when he received the present. I hope one day he'll be able to talk like any other normal kid. He was so adorable, hugging and saying thank you to all of us. His smile is enough to brighten up anyone's day. XD

We served food (KFC) to the inmates of Chesire Home after that. I hope they enjoyed our activities. Sadly, it was time to go home. We left at around 4.00, said our farewells and bid adieu *whatever you call it*. I can't fit everything we did in one post. Moral of the day, learned to appreciate what is given and not to demand for more.

And before I forget, Eu Fern sounded like Lindsay Lohan today...

Awkward....

Sleepiness

I fell asleep walking yesterday, even jumping too. I woke up this morning, feeling like I had a serious hangover, but I don't drink and not even reaching the legal age just yet. Exhaustion has consumed me and beat me at its best so far. I think it must have caused by the terrible headache before I went for the Spelling Bee. Anyway, the Spelling Bee was so depressing. Phoebe and I were separated into different groups.

Like I said before, I'll tembak the word if I don't exactly know what it is. So, my first word was "synagogue". First impression, the big question mark above my head. Within 60 seconds, I had to figure out how to spell it. Among the 15 attempts of spelling it within a minute, none of it was correct. The team's first round was rather unlucky or as Cassandra called it, "We were being scammed". *haha*

The next word, was what would you call it? Grotesque? I mean I know the word but the man who pronounced the word was totally off. Thanks to the definition, at least I capture a brief glimpse of how it should be said and spelled correctly. The last one was not too bad, "acquisition", but I kept on hearing the sss... sound behind. Assuming it was plural, I kept on spelling with the 's' behind but I just gave up in the end, and cancelled off the 's'.

We had to go for the tie-breaker which was perhaps the nerve-racking thing ever. As the stupid Michelle, I went and sat in the front. Twiddling my fingers, knowing my name was last on the list in their hands, I was extremely comfortable where I was. Then there was the B0035 ringing through the hall, and suddenly my name was being called out. I got the first word wrong anyway, and the second word, "finesse" correct. In conclusion, we did well, almost the whole team went into the semi-finals. Hopefully, the next one wouldn't be so hard and they ought to get people who can pronounce better.

And oh yeah... it's durian season. So check out a durian stall soon or you'll have to wait another year for heavenly delicous durians.

Simply Ludicrous

One day, I decided to asks several asinine questions in school...

So why on earth would MT question mindless thoughts that will not benefit your life or whatsoever?

I know you'll be falling asleep reading this.....

But do you really want to know?

It is commonly known as the symptoms of a major depression during exams.

My very first riveting query,"If you had a chicken, what would you do with it?"

Some answers were fair enough whilst the rest were rather *ahem* different.

The naturally conventional ones were by Sharon and Martha, "I'll slaughter the chicken, pluck the feathers out and roast it," they said with a glee.

And the odd ones,

"I'll throw it into the bin"-Gabrielle
"Uh... I don't know"-Sabrina
"What the heck???"-Amirah
"I'll let it fly"- I forgot the person who said it, sorry

Plus so much more... Bad idea to ask such idotic questions

Next question, do you prefer democracy or communism?

Suprisingly, St Teresa's East Malaysians are supporting *drum rolls* communism. Out of the ten people I asked so far, 9 said communism and 1 said democracy

9:1

And Sabrina mistook my statement of hating the topic of democracy for supporting communism. To think of supporting communists and not holding up in ruling your own country is simply weird. Whateverlah, rakyat Malaysia tentukan....

Don't take it seriously, we love Malaysia. And if you're a Malaysian, you know what to do.

If you have an opinion, just post it on the cbox! And a chicken to think of?

The Many Phases of Spelling Buzz...

English is driving me insane. So why you may ask?

I have a Spelling Bee this Friday. Weird, huh?

Phase One

For starters, how do you pronounce rendezvous and spell it right without a proper knowledge of the silent 'z' and 'ous' for the first time.

Then, there's the many other unexplored words with the silent e's that are barely noticable unless you look it up in the dictionary for example anaesthetic and haemorrhage.

Phase Two

Learning to spell reflexively and not writing it down on a piece of paper or hand. Long, winding words such as irresistible, commemorate and innumerable are hard to be spelled out in your head and ensuring a good flow of words.
Phase 3

Some words that I barely even know exists.

archipelago
gastro-entiritis
electroconvulsive therapy
forsythia
azalea
Zeitgeist
myxomatisis
embryonic

And so much more ...

I give up

But there's definitely one word I can spell and not screw up...

That is the BEE!

A thank you post

So firstly, I like to say Thank You to everyone who has wished me happy birthday and sang me a birthday song yesterday and today especially 2A1.

I am now one year older , thanks to Christine and Sharon who constantly remind me. Sharon even said I look so "tua" today.

Also one year closer to oblivion......

But the thought of being fourteen doesn't bother me much at all....

So I have joined the "Orang Tua" club. Smiles!

A Miracle

Failure
by Amanda Jordan

I feel it approaching
out of the darkness
out of the staleness
I see it first just as small as the light from a fire fly
It is a silent threat, not heard only felt
Like the storm you see quietly but forcefully dancing on the horizon.
As it grows in its magnificence
My apprehensive heart beats against my chest
I feel it so close but I keep praying that it will stay far away
My heart pounds wildly until my breath escapes me
My life my existence has been nothing but a great paradox
leading to this moment in time.
There are so many
Their voices screaming in my mind
A thousand thoughts inside only one
How do I help them all
What if I allow one to fall.
Will it swallow them into the parade of lightning
into the abyss of blinding light
Will I too fall for not saving themI always knew it was there
Safely waiting on the horizon
But I never felt this light would catch me this fast
I never thought the rain would fall upon my skin
But now here it is
Will I have the strength
Strength to make it go away
Only the agony of waiting for the future will tell
Just remember never let it come so close
That you can feel the mist upon you
Because the second you don't realize the other end of the story
That is the second it grabs a hold on you.
This officially confirms Michelle Ting needs a miracle.

Lying to 2A1

Ezzah and I were supposed to check whether Pn Catherine was in. And we did. Although the results didn't turn out as it was expected, there were actually no substitues nor was Pn Catherine in for 2A1 during Sejarah. In fact, the substitute was cancelled. So, indeed 2A1 was too bising until we had to walk down the stairs, called teacher with horrible results so it was payback.

Both of us agreed on letting the class assume that teacher will be coming soon. Ezzah announced that our Sejarah teacher was coming up soon. As the normal out of control 2A1, everyone scrambled back to their own seats before we had to face the music from teacher. Right.....

We were both grinning our heads off, I was shocked at what good actresses we were. And I had to say, everyone was positively unaware of the fabrications we told. Everyone reached their inner state of mind before returning to study mode.

I didn't know how on earth that I end up at Alicia's place and Ezzah joined the conversation too. Alicia was rather suspicious of our behaviour and kept repeating, asking whether Pn Catherine was coming in. Ezzah didn't spill the beans but she dropped some hints along the way. Michelle Goh and Alicia were convinced that we weren't telling the truth.

So, there were the only two who knew about the fabrications and Rebecca sort of heard it too. The class didn't buy it though. Still as noisy as ever, 2A1 will always remain the same way whether you like it or not. Bising till reach the other end of the corridor... Hope 2A1ners don't kill me and Ezzah! You guys were noisy but I still love you all.

The rules and regulations:
1. Each player of this game starts off with 15 weird things/habits/little known facts about yourself.
2. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 15 weird things/habits/little known facts as well as state this rule clearly.
3. At the end, you need to choose 10 people to be tagged and list their names.
4. No tags back!!

1. I am extremely clumsy. I trip on practically anything or nothing. So I always have bruises
and cuts on my legs or hands, and even my chin.

2. I weep when I see other people weeping (So, please don't cry in front of me..)

3. I love MONEY! Fresh money from the bank totally rocks.

4. I can't stand metals clanging together. For e.g. accidentally knocking the fork and spoon
together. My ears beg, no scream for mercy...

5. I just can't stop singing High School Musical songs just to annoy Sharon on our way down.
Usually, I end up getting beaten and told "I bring shame". Somehow, regrets never worm
themselves into my brain.

6. Do I seem to pay attention in class? Well, if you think staring at the teacher counts, you got
your answer. I am mostly daydreaming about what would happen if I murdered someone.

7. Romeo & Juliet, to me was not the best written by Shakespeare but it was the "Twelfth
Night". Loved it, a great classic comedy.

8. I tend to hum a tune which is familiar but which I do not know the title of the song. Check out
www.midomi.com though if you have a similar habit.

9. I absolutely detest Marilyn Manson.

10. I am cold-blooded. Not the symbolic cold-blooded. My hands turn icy cold in an air-cond
room after about 5 minutes although I am not really cold.

11. I sleep early usually about 9-11 compared to my friends.

12. I make up games with my sister just to make her tired enough to sleep.

13. I can't speak Foochow although I'm Foochow. Somehow, the dialect seems rather harsh and
when I see other people, talking it, they raise their voices and sound violent, in sort of I
want to mash you into pulp kinda of way.

14. I draw weird patterns or unnatural sceneries on my exam paper after I finshed it.

15. I do circular motions with my hands unconsciously causing people to think I am insane at
times. At supermarkets, hardware stores, bookshops, you name it... Michelle Ting with the
Circular Motions

I won't tag anyone today...
