Sarawak Chesire Home

Our civic project was a success!

Thanks to everyone in 2A1 who have worked so hard, the teachers for accompanying us today plus our parents for donations and the moral support they ghave given us.

Sorry, I didn't manage to take any pictures cause the camera apparently was "grounded" to stay at home. Annoyance seeps in.

Anyway, we gathered in front of the staff room at around 1.30 p.m, took the mugs and hampers not forgetting those oh-so-very-heavy fruits. Got up the bus at around 1.45 p.m and we were off to the Sarawak Chesire Home. I guaranteed everyone they would have muscles by the end of the trip after carrying those heavy gifts. Look at the bright side.

Managed to see the handicapped at work. They were all super talented. And I mean seriously. One man called Patrick wrote a very simple but amazing story with possibly no grammatical errors at all. The others could make beadwork and transform it from some mere colourful beads to a dog, a rabbit and even a Pikachu. For those who had Down's Syndrome, they could write well. We visited those who were bedridden and listened to their stories. It's pretty amazing how one can survive under such circumstances

Here comes the embarrassing but fun part. We all sang "Standing in the Eyes of the World", "I Have a Dream" and two numbers from ABBA which was "Dancing Queen" and "Mamma Mia!". I kept bumming into people. Silly me. We were accompanied by Alicia on the guitar.

After that, there was the "cabutan bertuah" session. Sister Regina took out the numbers from the bag and Faizah announced the winner. Dominic was so cute when he received the present. I hope one day he'll be able to talk like any other normal kid. He was so adorable, hugging and saying thank you to all of us. His smile is enough to brighten up anyone's day. XD

We served food (KFC) to the inmates of Chesire Home after that. I hope they enjoyed our activities. Sadly, it was time to go home. We left at around 4.00, said our farewells and bid adieu *whatever you call it*. I can't fit everything we did in one post. Moral of the day, learned to appreciate what is given and not to demand for more.

And before I forget, Eu Fern sounded like Lindsay Lohan today...

Awkward....
